PR Calendar

Use your creativity to determine what your chapter or state can do for these events or special days. Another source of tips and ideas is the information that is distributed by the US PR Director to the state public relations contacts. Some of the Women of Today events will have special activities already determined by the national or state PR contact. You can use these activities or make your own additional plans. Another excellent source is the United States Women of Today Public Relations Manual. Every chapter should have one or you can order one through the National Store.

United States Women of Today Public Relations Events:

  • Women of Today Week   - third full week in September - September 18 -24, 2005
  • Emphasis Months - July, September, October, April
  • Make a Difference Day - fourth Saturday in October - October 28, 2006 This is a national day for helping others - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate!

  • Awards - received by chapter members in other areas of life.

Please send me pictures, articles, brochures for President Brenda's Scrapbook, especially when she visits your chapter/state.

No matter what the event or activity, make public relations a part of everything you do.  Submit a press release to your local newspaper or public service announcements to your local radio station, have your chapter president appear on your local cable station, have a window display in the library or a store window, wear your chapter shirts or nametags at every chapter event, post flyers everywhere!  The possibilities are endless!  Our best public relations tool is YOU!  Be excited about this great organization and tell other people about it.  Public relations is everyone's job.

Buckets of Sunshine

UNITED STATES WOMEN OF TODAY
BUCKETS OF SUNSHINE
NATIONAL YEAR-END PROJECT

Since 1995, the United States Women of Today has promoted Buckets of Sunshine as a national project. In 2003-2004, Kennedy-Donovan Center, Inc. (Massachusetts) was the recipient of the National Buckets of Sunshine Project. The Kennedy-Donovan Center (KDC) provides a wide range of direct and supportive services to over 4,700 individuals and families with developmental disabilities throughout eastern and south central Massachusetts. At the National Convention in June, USWT contributed $2,934.00 to KDC. The presentation of the donated items (school supplies as well as financial contributions) took place at the National Year End Convention in Massachusetts in June 2004.

Women of Today Week

Women of Today week is celebrated the third full week in September.  All activities held during that week can be submitted for Shout Out with Pride certification.
